Pastrnak scores late to secure Bruins’ thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Blues

ST. LOUIS — In an exciting turn of events, the Boston Bruins rallied from a two-goal deficit in the final period to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. David Pastrnak delivered the decisive blow with just 1:47 left on the clock, as his shot from the left circle managed to sneak through the pads of goaltender Jordan Binnington, barely crossing the goal line.

The Bruins’ comeback was powered by contributions from Morgan Geekie and Charlie McAvoy, who each found the back of the net after the team faced a 2-0 deficit going into the third period. Geekie made his return to the ice after being scratched for the previous three games. Despite having been outscored significantly in the third period earlier this season, the Bruins managed to turn the tide, overcoming a challenging start.

In net, Jeremy Swayman stood tall for Boston, making 20 crucial saves as the team celebrated its fourth victory in the last six contests. For the Blues, Brayden Schenn and Oskar Sundqvist lit the lamp with power-play strikes in the second period, marking an end to a lengthy drought without a goal while on the man advantage at home. Binnington recorded 27 saves in a losing effort, as St. Louis suffered its third consecutive defeat.

Injury concerns arose for the Bruins, as defenseman Hampus Lindholm exited the game after taking a significant shot from Justin Faulk during a St. Louis power play late in the first period. Lindholm had been leading Bruins players in ice time before leaving the game visibly in pain. The Blues managed to score the first goal for the first time in eight games this season, which proved to be a brief lift.

One pivotal moment came early in the third when Nathan Walker’s shot struck the left post. If it had gone in, the Blues would have held a commanding 3-0 lead. Instead, the Bruins capitalized quickly, with Geekie scoring soon after at the 4:53 mark, followed by McAvoy’s equalizing goal at 9:15.

Pastrnak was particularly impressive, not only scoring the game-winner but also contributing an assist on Geekie’s goal. He fired a total of 10 shots on goal throughout the match, showcasing his offensive prowess.

Looking ahead, the Bruins are set to face the Dallas Stars on Thursday, while the Blues will begin a three-game road trip against the Buffalo Sabres.
