LYNCHBURG, Va. — In an impressive display, Brett Decker Jr. led the Liberty Flames to an emphatic 81-45 win over Carolina University on Tuesday evening, contributing 18 points off the bench.
Decker exhibited his shooting prowess by hitting 5 of 12 attempts from the floor, which included a solid 4 for 10 from beyond the arc, and completed a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. This victory brought the Flames’ record to 3-0 for the season.
Joining him in the scoring was Taelon Peter, who added 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting, with 2 of those coming from three-point range.
For the Bruins, Cameron Buchanan managed to put up nine points but his efforts were not enough to turn the tide for his team.
Liberty established their dominance early on, claiming the lead just 48 seconds into the game and maintaining control throughout. By halftime, they held a commanding 41-20 advantage, with Decker notably contributing 11 points during the opening half.
The second half saw Liberty continue to build their lead, taking it to 79-40, thanks to an impressive 8-0 scoring run that further demoralized their opponents. The Flames’ defense and scoring depth proved overwhelming, reinforcing their strong start to the season.
