COLUMBIA, S.C. — Collin Murray-Boyles showcased an impressive performance, scoring 27 points while just missing a double-double, as South Carolina triumphed over Towson with a commanding 80-54 victory on Tuesday evening.
Murray-Boyles exhibited exceptional shooting skills, making 9 out of 12 attempts from the field and converting 9 of his 10 free throw attempts, guiding the Gamecocks (2-1) to a solid 50% shooting overall. Following a personal best of 20 points in the previous game against South Carolina State, Jacobi Wright contributed 16 points in this matchup against Towson (1-2). Additionally, Nick Pringle made his mark with 15 points and nearly achieved a double-double with 9 rebounds.
For Towson, Nendah Tarke was the standout scorer with 12 points, while Tyler Tejada and Christian May added 11 and 10 points, respectively. However, the team struggled with their shooting, managing only 30% accuracy from the field.
The Gamecocks set the tone early, outscoring the Tigers 12-3 at the beginning of the game, powered by six quick points from Murray-Boyles. They maintained control throughout the first half, culminating in a shooting performance of 63%, with both Murray-Boyles and Pringle contributing 10 points each.
