Republican Representative Dan Newhouse secured his reelection for a U.S. House seat in Washington on Tuesday. Newhouse, who has been in office since 2015, emerged victorious against Jerrod Sessler, a fellow Republican endorsed by Donald Trump, who is not only a Navy veteran but also a former NASCAR driver.

Newhouse was among the ten House Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching Trump in the wake of the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. Notably, he is one of just two such representatives to retain his position following the 2022 elections. His district encompasses a broad area in central Washington, stretching from the Canadian border down to the Columbia River.

The announcement of Newhouse’s victory came at 7:25 p.m. EST, as he continued to represent the interests of his constituents in a politically challenging environment. Throughout his campaign, Newhouse focused on issues relevant to the district while navigating the complexities of his party’s dynamics following the divisive events of the past couple of years.
