SOUTHPORT, Conn. — Starting next month, fans will have a new way to enjoy NBA and NHL games as the largest owner of regional sports networks introduces single-game pricing.
Diamond Sports Group, which oversees 16 regional sports networks, shared this development on Tuesday. The single-game purchase option will be available through its direct-to-consumer streaming package, launching on December 5.
For viewers interested, the cost for individual games will be set at $6.99. Additionally, subscribers can choose to opt for monthly or season passes to follow their favorite teams.
The company holds broadcasting rights for 13 NBA teams and eight NHL franchises. Its networks, now branded as FanDuel Sports Network following the acquisition of naming rights just last month, previously operated under the Bally Sports title since March 2021.
Michael Schneider, the CEO of FanDuel Sports Network’s direct-to-consumer division, expressed enthusiasm about this new pricing model. He stated, “Adding single-game pricing gives fans the ability to watch their local NBA and NHL teams on a game-by-game basis, increasing the flexibility of our offering. This is a testament to our commitment to providing diverse viewing options and features that simplify the experience for fans wanting to catch their favorite teams.”
In a separate development, a crucial hearing concerning Diamond’s bankruptcy reorganization plan is set for Thursday. Since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2023, Diamond Sports has been undergoing proceedings in the Southern District of Texas. In a financial report from the previous year, the company disclosed that it was carrying a substantial debt of $8.67 billion.
