WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to travel to Europe for critical discussions regarding Ukraine with officials from NATO and the European Union. This visit comes in the aftermath of the recent U.S. presidential elections, which will see Donald Trump returning to the presidency in January.
The State Department has organized meetings in Brussels on Wednesday to explore ways to enhance support for Ukraine. Concerns have risen since President-elect Trump indicated that he might significantly reduce U.S. military aid to Ukraine, a country currently defending itself against Russia’s ongoing aggression.
After spending less than a day in Brussels, Blinken will continue his journey to Peru and Brazil. He will join outgoing President Joe Biden at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, as well as attending a summit with leaders from the Group of 20 major economies.
