Europa League Match Relocation Announcement

The upcoming Europa League encounter between Turkey’s Besiktas and Israel’s Maccabi Tel-Aviv, which was set for November 28, will now take place at a neutral site in Hungary, as announced by UEFA on Monday.

This match, initially designated to be hosted at Besiktas’ home ground, will occur at the Nagyerdei Stadium located in Debrecen, Hungary, following the Turkish government’s determination not to facilitate the event.

This adjustment comes in the wake of recent disturbances associated with Maccabi’s prior Europa League match in Amsterdam, where violence erupted, resulting in injuries to at least five fans after their team suffered a significant 5-0 defeat against Ajax.

On social media, Besiktas confirmed that Hungary was the sole nation willing to accommodate the match; however, owing to a ruling by Hungarian officials, the event will take place “behind closed doors”.
