HONOLULU — In an impressive display of skill, Sadraque NgaNga led San Jose State to a commanding 93-56 triumph over Life Pacific, an NAIA institution, during the Rainbow Classic on Monday evening.
NgaNga not only topped the scoring charts with 29 points but also contributed significantly on the boards with 12 rebounds, cementing his role as a pivotal player for the Spartans, who improved to a 1-3 record this season.
Supporting him in scoring were Latrell Davis, who netted 12 points with an efficient shooting performance, hitting 5 of 9 attempts from the field along with converting 2 of 3 free throws. Robert Vaihola added to the offense with 10 points, showcasing his own accuracy by making 5 of 6 shots.
On the opposite side, Austin Cook was the standout for the Warriors, finishing the game with 16 points and grabbing two steals. Life Pacific also saw contributions from Albert Matute, who scored 12 points, while Dylan Cabs chipped in with 8 points to the effort.
The Spartans seized control of the game early, taking the lead with 16:30 remaining in the first half and managing to maintain that advantage throughout the contest. NgaNga was particularly dominant in the opening half, scoring 16 points which propelled San Jose State to a substantial 41-20 lead at halftime.
As the game progressed into the second half, San Jose State showcased their prowess, pushing their lead to a staggering 61-24, driven by an impressive 11-0 scoring spurt. NgaNga continued to excel, adding another 13 points after the break as the team comfortably closed out the game, securing the decisive win.
