INDIANAPOLIS — In a decisive victory on Monday night, Butler University triumphed over Western Michigan with a score of 85-65. Pierre Brooks was a standout player for the Bulldogs, contributing 20 points along with six assists to help secure the win.

Augusto Cassia also made a significant impact, scoring 16 points and demonstrating his defensive prowess with three blocks. Patrick McCaffery rounded out the scoring for Butler with 15 points, shooting an efficient 5 for 8 from the floor, including two 3-pointers. McCaffery also excelled at the free-throw line, going a perfect 3 for 3, in addition to collecting six rebounds.

On the opposing side, Donovan Williams led the charge for the Broncos with 17 points and tallied nine rebounds. Javaughn Hannah made his mark with 15 points and four steals, while EJ Ryans added to the score with 10 points.

The game was tightly contested in the first half, with Butler holding just a two-point advantage at halftime, thanks to Jahmyl Telfort’s contribution of nine points. However, in the second half, Butler managed to pull away significantly, reaching a 55-39 lead that was powered by a dominating 14-0 scoring streak. Cassia led the Bulldogs’ offensive efforts in the latter half, scoring a total of 14 points during that period.
