COLUMBIA, Mo. — In an impressive performance, Caleb Grill equaled his personal best by sinking eight 3-pointers, amassing a record 33 points to guide Missouri to an 84-77 victory over Eastern Washington on Monday night.

Grill, who had been sidelined for Missouri’s last 23 games last season due to a wrist injury, displayed a remarkable shooting performance, hitting 10 out of 13 attempts from the field and 8 out of 10 from beyond the arc. He also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down a game-leading nine rebounds, just one effort shy of his career-high.

Eastern Washington made a notable push, going on a 19-8 run that narrowed Missouri’s lead to 70-68 with 5:15 left in the game. Mason Williams played a pivotal role during this stretch, scoring eight points, including two 3-pointers, while Andrew Cook chipped in with six points. However, Grill quickly responded with a 3-pointer, preventing the Eagles from getting any closer.

For Missouri, Mark Mitchell added valuable support with 13 points, shooting 10 of 13 overall. The team demonstrated a balanced offensive effort, with contributions from all 10 players who stepped onto the court, finishing the game with an efficient shooting percentage of 54% (26 of 48).

On the other side, Cook led Eastern Washington with 24 points, while Williams added 20. Tyler Powell and Nic McClain also made notable contributions, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. Eastern Washington showcased impressive shooting in the second half, finishing at 63% (17 of 27), and wrapping up the game with a shooting percentage of 52% (29 of 56) overall. Williams was particularly effective, making four of the Eagles’ nine successful 3-pointers.

In the first half, Grill’s four 3-pointers and 16 points helped the Tigers establish a solid lead, ending the period at 45-33. Cook was Eastern Washington’s standout during the first half, accounting for 12 of their points.

This matchup marked the second game in a 10-game home stretch for Missouri, who entered the night having previously defeated all six competitors from the Big Sky Conference by an average margin of 25.7 points.
