DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Satellite imagery has revealed that Israel has initiated a construction endeavor along the Alpha Line, which serves as a boundary between the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Syria. The work appears to involve laying asphalt for a road situated directly beside the border.

According to the United Nations, Israeli military forces have entered the demilitarized zone during this construction, which constitutes a breach of the cease-fire regulations that are meant to govern the region.

Activity on the project reportedly intensified in late September, with prior satellite images showing an escalation in work. This development comes in the wake of the Israeli military’s establishment of new roadways and what seems to be a buffer zone along its border with the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Israeli forces have started to demolish villages in Lebanon, which has led to incidents of gunfire directed at United Nations peacekeepers stationed in the area.

As of now, the Alpha Line has not experienced any significant outbreaks of violence, despite being the line that distinguishes the demilitarized zone between Syrian territory and land occupied by Israel. This zone has been under the watch of U.N. peacekeepers since 1974.
