Texans achieve franchise milestone with 5 interceptions but fall short in 26-23 defeat against Lions

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans established a new franchise record during their recent game by intercepting Detroit’s Jared Goff a staggering five times. However, despite this impressive defensive showing, the Texans were unable to capitalize on the turnovers, marking a historic low for the franchise as they became the first NFL team in nearly twelve years to lose a game despite achieving five or more interceptions, ultimately falling to the Lions 26-23.

“We didn’t make the plays necessary to secure a win… to succeed, players need to rise to the occasion, and that’s not happening,” head coach DeMeco Ryans expressed after the match.

The Lions made history themselves; they are the first team to win a game despite throwing five or more interceptions since the Atlanta Falcons triumphed over the Arizona Cardinals 23-19 in November 2012, when quarterback Matt Ryan was intercepted five times.

At halftime, the Texans found themselves in a comfortable position with a 23-7 lead, but their performance took a downturn in the second half, during which C.J. Stroud threw two critical interceptions.
