Trump appoints ex-immigration enforcement chief Tom Homan as ‘border czar’

NEW YORK – President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Tom Homan, who previously served as the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will take on the role of “border czar” in the upcoming administration.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform late Sunday, Trump expressed his enthusiasm about Homan’s appointment, stating, “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders.” Homan’s return to a key position focused on border security was largely anticipated, given his previous experience and strong stance on immigration issues.

As part of his responsibilities, Homan will oversee border security operations at both the southern and northern borders, as well as maritime and aviation security measures. Trump emphasized that Homan will also be responsible for managing the deportation process for illegal immigrants, which remains a significant aspect of his administration’s objectives.

The president-elect expressed confidence in Homan’s capabilities, stating that he had “no doubt” Homan “will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job,” reinforcing the importance of this role in his strategic plans for immigration control.
