TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — In an impressive display of teamwork and skill, Zaay Green led the No. 24 Alabama Crimson Tide to a dominant 94-72 victory over Troy on Sunday, scoring 24 points in the process.
Alabama improved its record to 3-0 as the team maintained a strong offensive presence, putting up 25 points in both the first and second quarters. By halftime, the Crimson Tide had established a comfortable 50-33 lead, greatly aided by their sharpshooting from beyond the arc, totaling eight 3-pointers in the first half and finishing with ten for the game.
Alongside Green’s contributions, Aaliyah Nye, who netted 18 points, Sarah Ashlee Barker with 12 points, and Karly Weathers adding 14 points also made significant impacts. Notable performances continued with Essence Cody contributing 10 points, including two free throws that helped secure Alabama’s largest lead of the game at 25 points in the final minute.
On the opposing side, Ashley Baez scored 14 points, while Emani Jenkins added 11 for Troy, which fell to 0-3 this season.
In terms of shooting accuracy, Alabama connected on 44% of its attempts, while Troy struggled, making only 30% of its shots. The game also highlighted ball control issues for Troy, who turned the ball over 19 times compared to Alabama’s 12, resulting in a significant 29-7 advantage for the Crimson Tide in points off turnovers.
Both teams faced challenges, recording a total of 90 missed field goals and 99 rebounds in the fast-paced, high-scoring contest.
