ST. GEORGE, Utah — In an impressive display of skill, Zawdie Jackson led the New Mexico State Aggies to a 75-63 win over Utah Tech on Saturday night, contributing 24 points to the team’s success.
Jackson’s performance also included five rebounds and seven assists, showcasing his all-around ability on the court. Supporting him, Christian Cook added 21 points of his own, hitting 8 of 16 shots, which featured three successful 3-pointers from nine attempts. Robert Carpenter also made notable contributions, finishing the game with 12 points after going 5 of 11 from the field, including two 3-pointers out of five tries.
On the opposing side, Noa Gonsalves was the standout for the Trailblazers, scoring 16 points and coming up with three steals. Beon Riley contributed as well, securing 15 points along with seven rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide for Utah Tech, which fell to 0-2 this season.
New Mexico State seized the momentum early, gaining the lead with 14:05 left in the first half and maintaining it throughout the game. By halftime, the score stood at a comfortable 39-23, with Cook leading the way for his team by scoring 15 points in the first half.
The Aggies’ victory showcased their growing teamwork and potential as they look to build on their current 2-0 record this season.
