PORTLAND, Ore. — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Deshaun Buchanan stood out, rushing for an impressive 212 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Art Williams also contributed significantly with two touchdowns of his own, helping Idaho secure a hard-fought 39-30 victory over a determined Portland State team.

As the game entered the fourth quarter, Idaho found themselves trailing 31-24. However, Mathias Uribe of Portland State made a notable impact, successfully kicking field goals from 27 and 48 yards to narrow the score to 31-30 with just over five minutes remaining in the game. In response, Idaho (7-3, 4-2 Big Sky) relied on their outstanding running backs and executed an impressive 78-yard drive in just eight plays, consuming more than three minutes off the clock.

The decisive drive culminated when Walker dashed into the end zone from three yards out, followed by a successful two-point conversion that extended Idaho’s lead to nine points. Throughout this critical possession, Buchanan showcased his skills, amassing 63 yards on just five carries, highlighted by back-to-back runs of 31 and 21 yards. With 22 carries in total, he averaged an impressive 9.6 yards per attempt during the game.

Meanwhile, Portland State (2-7, 2-4) faced a challenging final drive, which ultimately ended with a turnover on downs, sealing their fate. Idaho’s Jack Wagner had a solid performance, completing 11 of 17 passes for a total of 205 yards and one touchdown. On the other side, Dante Chachere threw for 180 yards, completing 15 of 21 attempts while also contributing two touchdowns for Portland State.

With this victory, the Vandals have now claimed three consecutive wins and four out of their last five games. Conversely, Portland State has struggled, losing two of their last three outings, reflecting a tough season for the team.
