BUIES CREEK, N.C. — In a thrilling finish, Brandon Peskin converted a 36-yard field goal with just one second remaining, securing a dramatic 27-24 victory for Richmond over Campbell on Saturday.

Richmond, now sitting at 8-2 on the season, is currently ranked No. 9 in the FCS coaches poll and leads the Coastal Athletic Conference with an impressive record of 6-0. The Spiders faced a challenging first half, trailing by 10 points as Connor Lytton capped the half with a 40-yard field goal for the Fighting Camels, bringing the score to 17-7 at halftime.

In the second quarter, Camden Coleman showcased his skills by throwing a 40-yard touchdown pass to Nick DeGennaro. Later, with just under five minutes remaining in the game, he connected with Ja’Vion Griffin on a 9-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 24-24. However, Coleman faced a setback as he was intercepted shortly after, giving Campbell a chance as they gained possession at the Richmond 40-yard line.

Despite the turnover, Richmond managed to halt Campbell’s momentum, forcing them to turn the ball over on downs. Mike Chandler II’s incompletion on a fourth-down attempt from the Spiders’ 35-yard line with 1:56 left in the game allowed Richmond to regain possession. Coleman then led a crucial drive, covering 45 yards in 11 plays to set up Peskin’s field goal that clinched the win.

For the game, Coleman completed 19 of his 33 passes for a total of 252 yards, accompanied by two touchdown passes and one interception. He also contributed to the ground game, rushing 12 times for 55 yards. Landon Ellis was a key target for Coleman, catching seven passes for 101 yards. For Campbell, Chandler went 12-of-24 through the air, recording one touchdown but struggling with two interceptions as the Camels fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
