PHILADELPHIA — In an impressive display on Saturday night, La Salle triumphed over Lafayette with a commanding score of 81-60.
Andres Marrero was a standout performer for the Explorers (now 2-0), contributing 18 points to the victory. He managed to hit 6 of his 15 shots taken from the field, including a strong 4 of 9 from three-point range. Jahlil White supported the team with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Corey McKeithan added to the offensive effort, scoring 14 points with an efficient shooting night, converting 6 out of 10 attempts from the field and 2 of 5 from behind the arc.
Lafayette, struggling to find momentum early in the season, saw their leading scorer Devin Hines finish the match with 17 points.
The Explorers seized the lead just under 18 minutes into the first half and maintained control for the duration of the game. Marrero set the tone with 14 points in the first half, allowing La Salle to secure a substantial 45-28 lead heading into halftime. The second half saw La Salle further extend their advantage to 62-38, thanks to a decisive 15-3 scoring run. Daeshon Shepherd played a pivotal role in the latter period, leading his team with seven points during that time.
