FARMVILLE, Va. — In an impressive performance, Michael Christmas scored 19 points, leading Longwood to a convincing 84-66 victory over Morgan State on Saturday.
In addition to his scoring, Christmas contributed significantly on the boards, grabbing five rebounds for the Lancers, who improved their record to 2-0 this season.
K.J. McClurg also made notable contributions, pouring in 13 points with an efficient shooting performance, hitting 3 of 6 from the field, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, and successfully converting 5 of 6 free throws. Meanwhile, Kyrell Luc added 12 points, netting 3 of 4 shots from the field and demonstrating his three-point accuracy by going 2 of 3 from distance. He also capitalized at the free-throw line, finishing perfect at 4 of 4.
For the Bears, who now hold a record of 1-2, Ahmarie Simpkins was the standout player, leading his team with 17 points while also dishing out four assists. Wynston Tabbs contributed with 12 points, and Daniel Akitoby rounded out the scoring for Morgan State with six points and six rebounds.
