THIBODAUX, Louisiana — Nicholls State’s Robert Brown III scored an impressive 21 points, leading the Colonels to a dominating 93-44 victory over the Mississippi University for Women on Saturday night.
Brown exhibited a strong performance, hitting 8 of 14 shots from the field, which included 4 of 9 from three-point range. The Colonels, now holding a record of 1-2, benefited from Jamal West’s solid contribution as he put up 13 points, shooting 5 of 7 and converting 3 of 4 from the free-throw line, while also pulling down five rebounds.
Adding to the scoring for Nicholls State was Caleb Robinson, who also scored 13 points, with a shooting percentage of 6 of 11 from the field, although he struggled a bit at the line, managing only 1 of 4 free throws.
For the Owls, Chris Evans was the leading scorer, finishing the night with 11 points. Eric Bass contributed nine points, while James Dukes added eight points to the team total.
Overall, Nicholls State displayed a powerful offense, showcasing their abilities on the court and proving to be a challenging opponent for the Owls.
