In a dominant performance on Saturday, the South Dakota Coyotes crushed Indiana State with a commanding score of 49-0. Charles Pierre Jr. delivered an impressive showing, rushing for 165 yards on just 11 carries, averaging an incredible 15 yards per attempt. He found the end zone twice in the third quarter, with notable runs of 23 and 83 yards occurring just three minutes apart, extending the lead to 35-0.
The Coyotes, who are currently ranked fifth in the FCS coaches poll, showcased their offensive strength throughout the game, scoring two touchdowns in the second, third, and fourth quarters along with an opening touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback Aidan Bouman had an outstanding game, passing for 238 yards on 14 completions out of 20 attempts, including two touchdown passes. He connected with Quaron Adams for a 66-yard touchdown on just the second play from the scrimmage and later hit Carter Bel with a 45-yard touchdown pass just before halftime, pushing the score to 21-0.
Additional touchdowns for the Coyotes stemmed from a 1-yard rush by Travis Theis, a 13-yard rushing touchdown by Keyondray Jones-Logan, and a final 67-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Nevan Cremascoli to Adams. In total, Adams caught two passes, both touchdown receptions totaling 133 yards, while Bel finished the game with 115 receiving yards on six catches and one touchdown.
For Indiana State, quarterback Elijah Owens managed to throw for 131 yards, but it was not enough to overcome the relentless Coyotes’ defense. The outcome puts South Dakota’s season record at 7-2, holding a 5-1 record in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
