BROOKINGS, S.D. — In a thrilling matchup, South Dakota State narrowly defeated Long Beach State with a score of 80-79 on Friday evening.
Oscar Cluff was a standout performer for the Jackrabbits, contributing 23 points along with 14 rebounds, helping his team to secure their second victory of the season, improving their record to 2-0.
Joe Sayler also played a key role in the win, finishing the game with 21 points. He demonstrated efficiency by shooting 8 of 15 from the field, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, and converting all four attempts from the free-throw line.
Owen Larson contributed to the scoring effort with 10 points, shooting 4 of 10 overall and nailing two 3-pointers out of four attempts.
On the other side, Devin Askew led Long Beach State with a strong performance, finishing with 27 points and eight assists, despite the loss. TJ Wainwright also had an impressive game for the Beach, adding 23 points and making two steals. Kam Martin supported the team by scoring 15 points.
