FORT WORTH, Texas — Vasean Allette contributed 14 points to help TCU secure a victory over Florida Gulf Coast, with a final score of 67-51, on Friday evening.

This season is a challenging one for TCU (2-0), as they work to rebuild after losing nine scholarship players from their previous roster, including their top seven scorers. The team has only brought back a mere 4.7% of their scoring from last season, marking the lowest statistic in the Big 12 and the tenth lowest in the country.

TCU ended the first half with a 6-0 scoring streak, edging ahead 30-29, while FGCU struggled, failing to score during the last four minutes of the half.

In the second half, Keeshawn Kellman momentarily put FGCU in the lead with a dunk, making the score 42-40 with 12:45 left on the clock. However, TCU’s Ernest Udeh Jr., the team’s only returning scholarship player, quickly countered with a series of four consecutive points, reclaiming the lead permanently.

FGCU managed to close the gap to 47-46, but Brendan Wenzel’s three-pointer triggered a decisive run for TCU, who finished the game on a 20-5 scoring spree. The Eagles struggled with their accuracy, making only two of their last twelve attempts.

Wenzel wrapped up the night with eight points, alongside nine rebounds, while Trazarien White led TCU starters with nine points. Allette, who averaged 17.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in his freshman year at Old Dominion, shot 5 of 14 from the field.

Kellman led FGCU (0-2) with an impressive 18 points and nine rebounds, with Jevin Muniz contributing 10 points and five assists.

Looking ahead, TCU will host Texas State on Tuesday before they travel for a matchup against Michigan on November 15.
