NEW YORK — Tanner Jeannot, a forward for the Los Angeles Kings, has received a three-game suspension due to an illegal check to the head of Vancouver’s Brock Boeser.

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety made the announcement following a phone hearing held with Jeannot on Friday.

During a game on Thursday night in Los Angeles, Jeannot was assessed a match penalty and subsequently removed from the match for the hit to Boeser’s head utilizing his right shoulder, which resulted in an injury to the Vancouver player.

The league elaborated in a video regarding the suspension, emphasizing that “Jeannot is responsible for this hit, and he selects an approach angle that crosses in front of Boeser, bypassing his core and making his head the primary point of contact.”

Furthermore, they stated, “In order to deliver this check appropriately, Jeannot needs to remain low and choose an angle that targets Boeser’s shoulder and core instead of essentially making the head the focal point of impact.”

As a result of the suspension, Jeannot will be absent for the Kings’ upcoming matches against Columbus, Calgary, and Colorado, leading to a forfeiture of $41,641 in salary. He is set to be eligible to return to play on November 16 against Detroit.

This season, Jeannot, 27, has accumulated two points over the course of Los Angeles’ first 15 games.
