Pierotti’s inaugural strike for Lecce propels team away from last place in Serie A

Lecce, Italy – In a tense Serie A match on Friday, Santiago Pierotti, the Argentine forward, netted his inaugural goal for Lecce, enabling the team to salvage a 1-1 draw against Empoli.

The critical equalizer came late in the game when Antonio Gallo delivered a cross from the left flank that Pierotti skillfully redirected with a header from a central position.

This goal marked an important milestone for Pierotti, who had previously made 22 Serie A appearances since his transfer to Lecce from the Argentine club Colón de Santa Fe earlier this year in January.

Prior to the match, Lecce found itself at the bottom of the league standings after suffering defeat in five out of their last seven games. The draw on Friday provided a much-needed point that elevated them over Monza and Venezia in the rankings, both of whom are scheduled to face Lazio and Parma, respectively, in their upcoming matches.

Empoli took the lead in the first half when Pietro Pellegri struck the ball into the net from outside the penalty area in the 33rd minute, hitting it inside the left post. This was Pellegri’s second goal in consecutive games, following a successful outing against Como, where he scored his first since joining Empoli from Torino during the summer transfer window.

As the season continues, both teams will be looking to improve their standings and build some momentum moving forward.
