Sean “Diddy” Combs has submitted a fresh motion for bail on Friday, arguing that recent developments and additional evidence warrant his release to prepare for a trial set for May.

Combs’ legal team filed this request in a federal court located in Manhattan, where multiple prior bail applications have been dismissed by two judges following his arrest in September on serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The music mogul has pleaded not guilty to accusations suggesting that he has systematically coerced and mistreated women over an extended period, allegedly using a network of associates to silence victims through intimidation and violence, including instances of kidnapping, arson, and physical assault.

Currently, he is awaiting a trial scheduled to begin on May 5 at a federal detention center in Brooklyn.

In their latest court submission, Combs’ attorneys detail an enhanced bail proposal, which includes comprehensive security measures that would impose strict surveillance around the clock along with limiting his communication solely to his legal representatives. However, they have maintained the bail amount at $50 million, the same figure proposed in previous requests.

The lawyers also reference new evidence they assert illustrates the government’s case against Combs is weak. This evidence allegedly contradicts the government’s assertion related to a video from March 2016, where Combs is shown physically confronting his former girlfriend, suggesting it was part of a coerced encounter termed a “freak off,” as mentioned in the indictment.

Instead, they argue that the incident captured in the video exemplifies a brief interaction within a long-standing consensual relationship between Combs and the woman involved.

Furthermore, Combs’ representatives highlight that the conditions under which he is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn compromise his constitutional right to effectively engage in his defense.

While prosecutors have chosen not to comment on the motion, the case surrounding Combs continues to draw attention as the scheduled trial approaches.
