ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — On Friday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced that rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman is likely to be sidelined for several weeks due to a wrist injury, which will keep him out of Buffalo’s upcoming matchup against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.
Coleman appeared to sustain the injury during last Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, when he was blindsided by safety Jordan Poyer while trying to secure a catch during Buffalo’s last drive, which culminated in a 30-27 win. Poyer was subsequently penalized for unnecessary roughness, a call that proved crucial as it set up kicker Tyler Bass to make a franchise-record 61-yard field goal.
As a rookie second-round draft pick from Florida State, Coleman has made a notable impact this season, ranking second among his teammates with 417 receiving yards and sharing the team lead with three touchdown receptions.
The Bills, who are currently at the top of the AFC East with a record of 7-2, may also face the challenge of missing wide receiver Amari Cooper for a second straight game. Cooper is listed as questionable for the game and has been seen wearing a brace on his left wrist during limited practice sessions throughout the week. Since being traded from Cleveland last month, Cooper has made five receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown over two games.
Additionally, backup linebacker Baylon Spector has been marked as questionable on the injury report due to a calf issue. However, there’s positive news for the team with the expected return of starting cornerback Christian Benford, who will not have an injury designation after sitting out last week’s game because of a wrist injury.
