Norwich City has announced that forward Josh Sargent has undergone surgery to address a groin injury and is expected to be sidelined for approximately two months.
The 24-year-old U.S. national team player has found the net four times in nine appearances this season, contributing to Norwich’s performance in the middle of the league table.
Manager Johannes Hoff Thorup provided an update, stating, “He has had the surgery and it will be eight weeks from there, which was Monday or Tuesday. Now it’s just about rehab and nice and easy getting back in,” ahead of the team’s upcoming match against Bristol City at home.
Last season, Sargent experienced a setback due to an ankle injury, which kept him off the field for a significant period. However, he made a successful comeback in late December, going on to score 16 goals across 30 matches.
Originally hailing from Missouri, Sargent joined Norwich before the start of the 2021-22 season in the Premier League and chose to stay with the team even after their relegation at the end of that season.
