NEW YORK — The anticipation builds as the nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards are set to be revealed soon. Fans are eager to find out which artists will be vying for the prestigious top honors.
The announcement will occur via a live video stream on the Grammy website as well as the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel on Friday at 8 a.m. Pacific Time and 11 a.m. Eastern Time, with a pre-show beginning 15 minutes earlier.
A diverse array of prominent figures will help unveil the nominees, including Gayle King and Jim Gaffigan, alongside a host of past Grammy winners. Among those expected to present are Brandy Clark, Kirk Franklin, David Frost, Robert Gordon, Kylie Minogue, Gaby Moreno, Deanie Parker, Ben Platt, Mark Ronson, Hayley Williams, and Victoria Monét, who was honored as last year’s best new artist.
To qualify for a nomination, recordings must have been commercially released in the U.S. between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024. This means that some popular albums, such as Future’s “Mixtape Pluto,” George Strait’s “Cowboys and Dreamers,” Tyler, the Creator’s “Chromakopia,” and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Warriors” will not be contenders. However, it is expected that Future and Metro Boomin’s track “We Don’t Trust You” will likely be nominated.
There are many questions as the nomination announcement approaches. For instance, will Beyoncé and Post Malone receive nods in the country music categories? Both artists have seen significant success with their respective albums, “Cowboy Carter” and “F-1 Trillion,” despite not having a traditional connection to the genre.
Could Shaboozey’s hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which skillfully blends his country vibe with the notable sample from J Kwon’s 2004 rap classic “Tipsy,” emerge as a leading contender?
Finally, the 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place live on February 2, airing on CBS and Paramount+ from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
