LOS ANGELES — In a recent matchup against the Los Angeles Kings, Brock Boeser exited the game early in the first period following a head check.
Boeser had just finished playing the puck in the neutral zone when he was struck hard by Tanner Jeannot, who was subsequently penalized with a match penalty due to the illegal nature of the hit.
The two-time All-Star appeared to be caught off guard by the collision, briefly going down to one knee before managing to leave the ice and return to the locker room under his own strength.
Boeser has been a standout player for the Canucks this season, leading the team with six goals while also ranking second overall with a total of 11 points.
Last season, he achieved personal bests, finishing with 40 goals and 73 points.
Following the penalty assessed to Jeannot, Conor Garland capitalized during the resulting five-minute power play, scoring to equalize the game at 1-1 at the 14:20 mark of the first period.
