KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Brandon Muntu played a pivotal role in Western Michigan’s triumph over Davenport on Thursday evening, contributing 17 points from the bench in an impressive 86-46 win.

Muntu showcased his skills, hitting 5 of 10 attempts from the field, including a notable 5 for 8 from beyond the arc, for the Broncos (1-1). Max Burton also made a significant impact by scoring 13 points with an efficient 6 of 7 shooting performance, and he recorded seven rebounds. Javaughn Hannah matched Burton’s scoring with 13 points, finishing the game with 5 of 8 shooting, including 2 for 4 from three-point territory.

For the Panthers, Jovan Tucker was the leading scorer with 11 points, while teammates Dylan Smith and Matyas Vrabel each contributed six points to the team’s effort.

Western Michigan established an early lead just over a minute into the first half and maintained it throughout the game. Muntu was instrumental in this success, scoring 12 points in the first half alone, which propelled the Broncos to a commanding 42-17 advantage at halftime. The second half saw Western Michigan widen the gap, especially during a dominating 16-0 scoring run that pushed their lead to 58-17. EJ Ryans added to the team’s total with eight points in the final half, helping seal the decisive victory.

The Broncos demonstrated excellent teamwork and offensive flow, marking a strong performance in their second game of the season.
