MILWAUKEE — Giannis Antetokounmpo made his return to the Milwaukee Bucks’ lineup on Thursday night against the Utah Jazz after sitting out a game due to a right adductor strain.
The two-time MVP had been noted as questionable leading up to the game, but head coach Doc Rivers confirmed his availability ahead of tip-off.
The Bucks are eager to break out of their early season slump as they face the Jazz.
This season, Antetokounmpo has been impressive, averaging 31 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
Rivers also indicated that adjustments were being made to the team lineup, with Andre Jackson Jr. slated to make his first start of the season and Gary Trent Jr. transitioning to a bench role.
Jackson had a standout performance on Monday, logging a season-high 25 minutes with seven points and seven rebounds.
In contrast, Trent has struggled, averaging just 8 points per game and shooting a mere 28.8% overall, along with 23.1% from beyond the arc.
“We’re continuously searching for someone to fill that role as a supportive player and defensive anchor,” Rivers stated. “Gary has been having a tough time. I believe he will eventually find his rhythm again. My goal is to give him the space he needs to overcome this phase, as I trust his abilities.”
