NEW YORK — On Thursday, authorities were on the lookout for an individual involved in a shooting that took place on a bustling street in Manhattan, causing disruptions during the busy morning rush hour. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on the Upper West Side, where a 47-year-old man was shot in both the leg and shoulder. Fortunately, he is currently in stable condition and remains hospitalized.
Following the shooting, the suspect quickly made his way into the nearby 72nd Street subway station, prompting police to take swift action. Officers instructed subway riders to lie on the floor and remain sheltered in place while they conducted a thorough search for the suspect. To facilitate their investigation, authorities also cut power to the station and temporarily stopped all train services.
As a result of the police activity, C train services were suspended in both directions, leading to significant delays for commuters. Once the immediate threat had been addressed, services resumed, albeit with lingering delays.
Law enforcement officials have not provided the names of either the suspect or the victim involved in the incident. They also refrained from disclosing whether the two individuals were acquainted or what may have led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing as police continue their efforts to locate the suspect.
