BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — In a recent incident at a mental health crisis center, two police officers in Kentucky were injured in a shooting that escalated into a deadly confrontation. The situation unfolded early Wednesday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m., when officers from the Bowling Green Police Department were dispatched to the LifeSkills Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit in response to an individual undergoing a mental health emergency.
Upon their arrival, the suspect began to resist and engaged in a physical struggle with the officers. During this altercation, he managed to seize control of one officer’s firearm and discharged it towards the two officers present, as outlined by the Kentucky State Police in a public statement.
In response to the threat, one of the officers fired back at the suspect, who was subsequently declared dead at the scene by officials. Thankfully, both officers were treated for their injuries and released from the hospital the same day after sustaining what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
