CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers announced on Thursday that they have granted running back Chuba Hubbard a four-year contract extension, ensuring that he will remain with the team until the conclusion of the 2028 season.
The specific financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Hubbard, a fourth-round draft selection from 2021, is currently enjoying his most successful season to date with the Panthers, who hold a record of 2-7. He ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards, accumulating 665 yards, along with five rushing touchdowns while maintaining an average of 5 yards per carry. In addition to his rushing contributions, he has recorded 26 receptions totaling 108 yards and one touchdown.
In the recent game against the New Orleans Saints, Hubbard showcased his skills by rushing for 72 yards and scoring two touchdowns, which included the pivotal go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter, leading to a 23-22 victory.
With Hubbard’s extension, he avoids entering unrestricted free agency at the end of the current season.
Looking ahead, cornerback Jaycee Horn, who was selected in the first round of the draft, could be the next candidate for a contract extension with the Panthers.
This news of Hubbard’s extension comes just before Panthers rookie second-round pick Jonathon Brooks is anticipated to make his NFL debut on Sunday in Munich against the New York Giants.
