San Diego – In a closely contested matchup on Wednesday night, Rider University triumphed over the University of San Diego with a narrow score of 68-67. T.J. Weeks Jr. played a pivotal role in Rider’s victory, contributing 19 points along with five rebounds, helping to bolster the Broncs’ performance in their second game of the season to improve their record to 1-1.
Jay Alvarez also made a significant impact for the Broncs, scoring 15 points. His shooting performance included making four out of eleven attempts from the field, three of which were successfully from beyond the arc, and he converted four out of six free throw attempts.
On the opposing side, the Toreros struggled to secure their first win of the season, starting off with an 0-1 record. Kjay Bradley Jr. led San Diego in scoring with an impressive 24 points and recorded two steals. Additional contributions came from Kody Clouet, who added 13 points and made four steals, while David Simon chipped in with 12 points and contributed two blocks defensively.
During the first half of the game, Weeks scored nine points, but Rider faced a slight deficit at halftime, trailing 35-32. In the second half, Alvarez stepped up his performance, putting up 11 points that helped propel the Broncs to a comeback and ultimately secure the victory.
