BATON ROUGE, La. — In an impressive start to their season, LSU showcased their skills with a commanding 95-60 victory over UL Monroe on Wednesday evening. Jalen Reed led the charge with a personal best of 24 points, while Cam Carter contributed significantly with 21 points.
Reed demonstrated remarkable accuracy, going 8 of 9 from the field and sinking all eight of his free-throw attempts, in addition to grabbing eight rebounds. Carter was also effective, hitting 7 of his 12 shots and playing a key role in the team’s outside shooting, contributing four of the ten three-pointers made by LSU during the contest. Curtis Givens III matched Carter’s prowess from beyond the arc, connecting on four three-pointers to finalize his contributions with 15 points, while Dji Bailey chipped in another 13 points for the Tigers, who overall shot 51% by hitting 34 out of 67 attempts.
For UL Monroe, Jalen Bolden was a standout player, scoring 25 points on 11 of 22 shooting and adding two three-pointers to his tally. Jerry Ngopot also had a solid performance, finishing with 12 points.
LSU quickly established dominance in the game, securing the lead just three minutes into the match. A significant 22-4 run allowed them to gain a commanding 44-19 advantage. Reed led the Tigers in the first half with 16 points, while Carter added 14, including a memorable dunk, which helped LSU go into halftime with a substantial 50-27 lead.
The Warhawks attempted a comeback early in the second half, narrowing the gap to 21 points. However, LSU’s Jordan Sears countered with a three-pointer to ignite a 10-0 run, which extinguished any hopes of a UL Monroe resurgence.
With this victory, LSU has extended its winning streak to nine games in their all-time series against UL Monroe, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
