On Wednesday, Republican Darrell Issa emerged victorious in the election for a U.S. House seat from California, overcoming his Democratic opponent, Stephen Houlahan.
Issa first entered Congress in 2000 and served until 2019. After a brief hiatus, he entered the race once more, successfully securing election in a new district in 2020.
Currently, Issa is among the 12 Republican representatives from California and gained notable recognition for his unwavering support of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential elections.
As of 2023, he holds the distinction of being the richest sitting member of Congress.
Prior to his political career, Issa co-founded a prominent company that specialized in car security products.
