Democrat Lou Correa has secured his position in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California, as of Wednesday.
Correa achieved victory over Republican candidate David Pan, who is not only a professor of German at the University of California, Irvine, but also a relatively new face in political contests.
Having been a member of Congress since his election in 2016, Correa has established himself as a long-standing incumbent.
His roles include membership on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Moreover, Correa has a history of public service, having previously held positions in California’s Legislature and on the board of supervisors for Orange County.
The 46th Congressional District is known for its reliable Democratic leanings and encompasses central Orange County areas, including the vicinity of Disneyland.
