Republican Mark Amodei has secured reelection for a U.S. House seat from Nevada, with the results announced on Wednesday. Amodei, who serves on the influential House Appropriations Committee, initially won his full term in a special election back in 2011. Since the establishment of his district, it has consistently favored Republican candidates. In fact, no Democrat has ever triumphed in this predominantly rural district, and notably, no Democratic candidate filed to contest the seat this year.
Amodei faced off against Greg Kidd, who entered the race as a nonpartisan candidate. The district encompasses key areas such as Reno, Sparks, and Carson City, in addition to covering extensive rural regions stretching from south of Lake Tahoe up to north of Elko. The decision was finalized with the announcement of Amodei as the victor at 2:02 a.m. EST.
