Democratic Representative Tom Suozzi has successfully secured his reelection to the U.S. House, representing a district in New York.
Suozzi has previously served three terms in this Long Island district before he decided to step down in 2022 to run against Governor Kathy Hochul.
This year, he made a return to his former position through a special election, necessitated by the expulsion of Republican Representative George Santos from Congress.
In this election, Suozzi faced off against Michael LePetri, a former member of the state assembly.
The district in question encompasses the northern region of Nassau County along with a small area of Queens.
The news of Suozzi’s victory was announced shortly after 1:00 a.m. EST.
