Democratic Representative John Larson successfully secured reelection to his U.S. House seat from Connecticut on Wednesday.
Larson triumphed over Republican candidate Jim Griffin and Green Party hopeful Mary Sanders, marking his 14th term in office.
The experienced legislator serves a district that is predominantly Democratic, which includes Hartford, the state’s capital.
Since beginning his congressional career in 1999, Larson has positioned himself as a strong advocate for working-class families and has emphasized his commitment to safeguarding Social Security during this election.
Jim Griffin, his Republican challenger, is a military veteran with a background in federal service and a previous role as a lobbyist for gun manufacturer Colt before entering the political arena.
The outcome was officially announced by election officials at 12:17 a.m. EST.
