Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer has successfully secured another term in the U.S. House, representing New Jersey’s 5th District, as the results of Tuesday’s election came in.
Gottheimer, a seasoned lawyer and once a speechwriter for former President Bill Clinton, emerged victorious against Republican challenger Mary Jo Guinchard, along with three other candidates vying for the position in the district that encompasses parts of Bergen and Passaic counties, which are located near the suburbs of New York City.
Having first entered the House in 2016 by defeating a Republican incumbent, Gottheimer’s win once again underscores his support within a district that has seen a diverse political landscape.
