AP Race Result: GOP’s Trent Kelly secures reelection to U.S. House representing Mississippi’s 1st District

Republican Representative Trent Kelly successfully secured another term in the U.S. House, representing Mississippi, as of Tuesday’s elections.
Kelly managed to defeat his opponent, businesswoman Dianne Dodson Black, in a rematch from the 2022 elections that took place in the 1st District of northern Mississippi.
Having started his congressional career following a special election win in 2015, Kelly previously served as a district attorney.
In addition to his political career, he holds the rank of major general in the Mississippi Army National Guard and has been deployed to Iraq on two occasions.
In Congress, Kelly contributes to several important committees, including the House Armed Services Committee, the House Agriculture Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
