ST. PAUL, Minn. — During Tuesday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Kings, Kirill Kaprizov, a winger for the Wild, suffered an injury after being hit in the mouth by a stray puck.
The incident occurred in the second period while Kaprizov was engaged in offensive play following a faceoff. A puck unexpectedly got airborne and struck him directly in the face. The impact caused him to fall to his knees, where he was seen bleeding. Despite the injury, he skated off the ice independently and headed straight to the team’s dressing room.
Kaprizov did not make a return for the remainder of the period, leaving the Kings in the lead with a score of 2-1 as play progressed into the third.
Notably, Kaprizov has been a standout player this season. He is currently tied for the highest points in the league, holding an impressive total of 21 points. Throughout 11 games, he has led the Minnesota Wild, contributing seven goals and 14 assists, solidifying his reputation as a top scorer with the highest points-per-game ratio among players participating in multiple games.
