On Tuesday, Democratic Representative Bobby Scott successfully secured reelection for his U.S. House seat in Virginia.
Scott triumphed over Republican opponent John Sitka in the contest for Virginia’s 3rd District.
Notably, Scott made history as Virginia’s first Black congressman since the Reconstruction era when he was initially elected in 1992.
Prior to his congressional career, he held a position in the Virginia House of Delegates and practiced law as an attorney.
