Republican Representative Brett Guthrie secured his reelection to a U.S. House seat in Kentucky on Tuesday, triumphing over Democrat Hank Linderman.

Having been first elected to Congress in 2008, Guthrie has since occupied a significant role in health policy as the chairman of the Health Subcommittee under the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Additionally, he has contributed as a deputy whip for the House Republican Conference. Guthrie’s background includes graduating from the esteemed U.S. Military Academy, where he also served as a field artillery officer.

Before his tenure in the U.S. House, he was a member of the Kentucky Senate. The 2nd District seat, which he represents, encompasses areas in both western and central Kentucky.
