Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty has successfully secured reelection to her U.S. House position representing Ohio.
Voters overwhelmingly chose to send Beatty back to Washington for a seventh term, which was anticipated given that she represents the heavily Democratic 3rd Congressional District encompassing a large portion of Columbus, the state capital.
Beatty boasts a rich political background, having previously served as a state representative and made history as the first female Democratic leader in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Additionally, she held the role of president of the Congressional Black Caucus in the past.
In the election, Beatty faced off against Republican contender Michael Young, who is noted for his careers as a singer-songwriter, real estate developer, and Air Force veteran.
The announcement of Beatty’s victory was made at 8:26 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
