In Novi Sad, Serbia, unrest erupted as demonstrators expressed their outrage over the tragic collapse of a concrete canopy at the railway station that resulted in the death of 14 individuals. During the protests, participants hurled flares and red paint at the City Hall building to convey their anger. In an effort to control the crowd, police deployed tear gas canisters.
The situation escalated as protesters gathered around the City Hall in the heart of Novi Sad, vandalizing the building with paint and launching bottles and other objects, despite pleas from the event organizers for the crowd to maintain peace. Inside the building, special police forces were stationed to manage the unrest and ensure safety.
The demonstration began with thousands marching through the streets, voicing demands for the resignation of government officials linked to the deadly roof collapse that took place the previous Friday. Among those targeted for accountability were President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, who are perceived as responsible for the incident.
