OMAHA, Neb. — In a thrilling season opener, the Omaha Mavericks triumphed over the Mid-America Christian Evangels with a final score of 85-69 on Monday night.
Tony Osburn shone for Omaha, scoring 16 points and demonstrating his shooting prowess with 5 of 8 from the field, including an impressive 4 of 7 from three-point range.
Additionally, JJ White contributed significantly with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Grant Stubblefield matched him with 14 points as well, going 4 of 7 overall and 1 of 4 from deep. Stubblefield also made 5 of 6 free throws during the contest.
On the other side, Mid-America Christian’s offensive efforts were led by Josiah Fulcher, who recorded 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Tarrence Gaines made a strong impact as well, finishing with 18 points and securing seven boards.
Juwan White added to the Evangels’ tally with 15 points, alongside four assists and three steals, displaying a well-rounded performance.
This season opener set a competitive tone as both teams look to build on their early momentum.
